The Arts Combination:
The sound of Words and Paintings through a piano
Imagine the intensity of an old scottish poem writen hundred years ago, which colours the tragedy of a mother who receives her son with a knife full of blood from a struggle with the father…
…Or how the nuance of painting is shown through 10 pictures from a russian exhibition full of contrasting ideas and materials.
The performance of the Ballades Op. 10 by J. Brahms and the Pictures at an exhibition by M. Mussorgsky bring us the possibility, to enjoy a German and a Russian composer whom, wrote piano music based on their own experience of reading poetry or observing an exhibition. The consequent results are 2 of the most important pieces of the piano repertoire from the XIX Century.
